Wake Up Call! – Detach from Negative People

DETACH FROM NEGATIVE PEOPLE

Detach from negative people for the well-being of both of you.

A gloomy cloud of negativity hovered over my colleague throughout our several days of meetings. At first I brushed it aside but his negativity began draining my spirit and energy. When I asked him about positive or happy things he saw only the murky side of how things might be.

I could try to engage his negativity or lovingly detach from it while offering positive intentions for him.

In choosing detachment my energy and spirit began to return. Only he can choose to step beyond the gloom of negativity.

I was reminded that my spirit and life are affected by the energy and spirit of others. I expressed new appreciation for my life-giving choice. What awareness will I have today for such choices?

Call-to-Action:

  • Be aware of the energy of those around you

  • Lovingly detach from negative people

  • Choose to be present to those whose spirit enlivens

Notice how you show up for life when you make life-giving choices

Wake Up Call! – Your Time

YOUR TIME

How will your choices about time shape your life?

I’m not always as wise about the use of my time as I’d like to be. One of my dearest friends visited from another country recently and my inner struggle with the precious commodity of time reared its head.

Would I choose to allow my project driven use of time to prevail or would I allow myself to cherish time with a special friend?

I was reminded that my choices were a false construct. I could choose to savor the time with my friend and reserve time for work.

I discovered new appreciation for the richness of our friendship and its shaping of my life. The passage of those days cannot be replaced but the gift of what I experienced continues to live on. How will I choose to mindfully use my time this week?

Call-to-Action:

  • Be aware of the choices you make about time today

  • Be mindful of how those choices shape who you are

Notice how life-giving use of time is a gift to be celebrated.

Wake Up Call! – Your Goodness

YOUR GOODNESS

Living into your goodness invites others to do the same.

I once lived with the assumption that I was not as good as others. It was a sweeping assumption grounded in unexamined notions of unworthiness and harsh judgment. I assumed this was normal until I was challenged by the disconnect of it all.

I could choose to continue with such a half-life or begin to discover the goodness in me.

A wise person worked with me to name and celebrate the goodness within. With each naming my resistance mellowed and a new appreciation emerged as the new normal.

Instead of an exercise in narcissism I discovered that living into my goodness is an invitation to discover the goodness in others. What goodness will I be surprised by today?

Call-to-Action:

  • Name and celebrate something good about you

  • Appreciate the good in another

Notice how you begin to live with a currency of goodness anticipated and cultivated.
